The Hot Spring:

Adjacent to Baltazor Hot Spring there are the remains of a homestead that most likely used the spring to water the adjacent grassy field to feed cattle.  Today the remaining structures are falling apart and the spring does not appear to be used for any purpose.  The main source is a "death pit", where boiling hot water emerges from the ground forming a hole.  The water temperature is extremely hot at approximately 180 degrees F and even had a dead cow skeleton in the death pit when we visited in 2007.  Where the water flows into the grassy field a soaking pool could be dug out where the water temperature is adequate, but nothing was built when we visited.  There is another small seasonal spring with less flow and cooler water temperature that was dry when we visited.

Despite the fact the property is left to ruins, please do not disturb the homestead or leave any trash behind, because a fence will most likely be put up on the private property if problems are found.
